SivE shringarardra, taditarajanE kutsanaparA
sarOshAm gangAyAm, girishacharitE vismayavatI,
harAhibhyO bhItA, sarasIruha sowbhAgya jananI
sakhI sushmErA, tE mayi jananI drishti sakarunAm
It describes the various expressions that can be visualized in the Divine Mother's eyes: Love on seeing SivA, disgust at 'other' men,
jealousy on seeing GangA, wonder when she hears the deeds of SivA, fear when she sees the snakes that adorn SivA as garlands, indulgent smile when she sees her girl friends, and she looks with compassion at her devotees. Her face is as lovely as a lotus, symbolizing heroism. Eight of the nine rasAs (navaras) are described here, because the rasA of ShAnta is a controversial one. Not everyone considers that as a true ras.
